The Workforce Development Program helps individuals with certification for employment. In addition, Last Looks wants to create an incentive for those interested in acquiring union status with the Motion Picture Studio Mechanics Local 476. Those participating in the program will receive a certificate upon completion. ALL LEVELS OF EXPERTISE ARE WELCOME.
Workforce Development Curriculum
Set Etiquette 101! This introduction to set etiquette is a highly informative resource for working on motion picture, television, and theater productions. Job descriptions/responsibilities, on set duties (the do's and dont's), and what should be in your set bag are just a few of the topics we will cover. Applying these and other basic principles to your existing talent will not only prepare and strengthen your skills for working as an on-set makeup artist/hair stylist, they will accelerate your career and increase your network within these industries.
Barbering for T.V. and Film This program is designed to teach the principles of barbering and grooming hair for film and television. It will define the responsibilities of a barber, expectations and job descriptions, instructor/student demonstrations, and how to develop an image for a character. You will learn the main components for barbering (tapers, fades, and clipper over comb techniques), personal development (social skills and communication), and how to market yourself via social media outlets.
The Incubator Program teaches individuals how to develop their own business. The objective is to create a road map to success for those who want to expand their opportunities in the areas of makeup, Special FX makeup, or hair styling. Those participating in this program will receive a certificate upon completion. ALL LEVELS OF EXPERTISE ARE WELCOME.
Incubator Curriculum
The Incubator program consists of the following segments- Makeup & Special FX for T.V. and Film, Hair & Wigs, and Entrepreneurship (You are the Boss!):
Makeup & Special FX will cover the basics of makeup, such as application for HD film and television, creating “looks” based on a character, product descriptions, tools of the trade, tattoo covering, makeup FX applications (scratches, bruising, abrasions, etc.), and other important skills that are required to work in a production setting.
Hair & Wigs will assist with identifying the different types of wigs, extensions, and hair pieces, wig maintenance (blocking, fitting, cleaning, and styling), safety precautions, art of designing a character, and continuity, and other required skills, for working in film and television.
Entrepreneurship (You are the Boss!) will tie the curriculums in both programs in an effort to prepare you for the next step in your career. Finding your niche is one of the most important challenges when deciding to work in the film and entertainment industry. Effective communication, branding, resume building, and marketing tools will be discussed in this class. At the end of this program, you will partake in logo and website development, drafting your resume, and creating a PROFESSIONAL bio and headshot.
